Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

Last Thursday I gave lto a kidney (1000 points). Last Wednesday freeimprov and I donated clothes to the needy (11 points). Last Saturday I pulled puckette66's hair (-5 points). Last Friday I ruled Canada as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points). Last week I ruled Asscrackistan as a cruel and heartless dictator (-700 points).

Overall, I've been nice (1006 points). For Christmas I deserve a Nintendo Wii!

Guy Fawkes

I love Guy Fawkes day.  I just wish I was actually in Britain to celebrate! :)

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,

The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,

I know of no reason

Why the Gunpowder Treason

Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent

To blow up the King and Parli'ment.

Three-score barrels of powder below

To prove old England's overthrow;

By God's providence he was catch'd

With a dark lantern and burning match.

Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

Apparently Indonesia is proactively looking for the right Americans to knock off at the airport.  Got this email from our visa agency today:
From: Perry International

Subject: Indonesia -

Tourist visas now require a bank statement showing a minimum balance of $2000.

Thank You,
Perry International

(And why is it any of their business how much money is in my bank account?)

bear viewing!

So, I have this issue and I need the LJ hivemind to help.
I really want to go bear viewing in Alaska, but thanks to the car accident in Scotland I really shouldn't* rearrange finances to do this. (Especially since not following my own company policy and not taking ou the CDW insurance was my own damn fault - even if the accident itself wasn't).

So - should I go view the bears, get some awesome photos and have a good time or should I be good and take my punishment for screwing up the budget?  You decide!

Poll #1402423 Bears and bears and bears... WooHoo!

Should I spend the $575 to do an 8 hour bear viewing trip?

Yes, if you think you can make up the money through photo sales
Yes - duh you're on vacation, just do it!
Maybe - do the $399 standby option and let the universe decide
No - that's a lot of money
No, you screwed up in Scotland by not taking the CDW insurance, killing your budget. Your punishment is no bears!
Other - leave a comment

I am so not having a good day.
Seriously - the only thing that hasn't happened yet is having the roof cave in on top of me. *glares at roof*
Need to go home and start over - seriously.

Scotch and Haggis

I seem to be drinking my way through this tradeshow.  Every bloody booth has whisky on tap!
Also, had Haggis for breakfast - mmmm Haggis.
I have also picked up far too much crap!
Currently in my bag I have a scottish cow (not Mackenzie... a smaller cow), a Scottie, a penguin, an anvil (it's light), and Nessie.  That's right, the loch ness monster now lives in my computer bag!  Woot!  I have collected tons of pens, key rings and far more brochures than I need!

Also - just got out of a meeting with buteo_flight 's twin brother.  No joking.  This guy looked just like buteo - right down to the eyes and the intensity of those eyes when speaking about something he's passionate about.  Freaky.

Alright, I best get off to my next meeting and fortunately my 2:30pm just came to me - gotta love that.  That leaves me with the 1:45pm and the 4pm and then off to the Glasgow Science center for some fun!  Can you say planetarium?   Booya!

Ah Britain

So, while I'm sitting in the pub avoiding work (ok, I should have had these appointments set before* I left the US - ooops) let's touch on this trip so far.
I left on Saturday at 10am, arrived in Newark at 2pm and started my evil 7 hour layover.  However that layover was the best plan ever as the wonderful doctorwannabe  drove up from Philly, picked me up and we headed to the Iron Monkey for lunch.  We then wandered around Jersey City, grabbed coffee and dessert and she dropped me back at the airport (after threatening to kidnap me and take me back to Philly - which would have been ok too).
I arrived into Manchester on Sunday, grabbed the train and headed to York.  I don't care how long it's been since I've been there or how tired I am when I get there - York energizes me.  It's like coming home.  I love York.  Anyway - I checked into the hotel, freshened up (because between the flight and the 7 hour layover and the running around with doctorwannabe - I stank to high holy heaven and then some!)  I then called hils  and we ran off for a late lunch.  Then it was off to one of my fav pubs where Heroes, Doctor Who and several other Sci-fi related things were discussed.  I decided I was tired and we parted ways with promise of adventure for the next day.

Monday - Hils met me at the hotel and we headed to the rail station to pick up our car.  Agent bennies mean I got upgraded to fanatastic Audi (that took us 15 minutes to figure out how to start as it came with neither key nor push button) and then it was off to Fountains Abbey.  We spent a couple hours there (one of my fav places in the UK), then headed to Black Sheep Brewery for lunch - home of the Monty Python Ale, then to Rievaulx Abbey (which I had never been to but always wanted to go), and finally to Helmsley Castle.  Then back to York to drop the car.  We walked a LOT so I we both went our separate ways to freshen up and then met back up for a curry.  Hils took me to a lovely Indian Restaurant and we talked until we realized we were both so tired we were zoning out.  Then it was back to the hotel (and hils back to her flat) for some night-night time (nevermind I still didn't go to bed til Midnight).

Today I wandered around York, walked back up to the University I attended, found the York Devil so I could update my photo, had lunch at the Greenhouse (which Hils recommended - mmm Yorkshire pudding!), then down to the rail station to pick up something we left in the hire car (ooops!) and onto the train to Glasgow.  Got in here about 6pm, checked into the hotel, completely abused my body by not only walking it all day yesterday and this morning but then I had the audacity to make it go for a swim, steam and sauna when I got to the hotel! (It's going to kill me in my sleep...).  I then ran to Atholl Arms pub (where Emmasdad and I had dinner last year when we were in Glasgow) and now I'm hanging at Molly Malone's trying to figure out who to meet with and having a couple of pints and solving a couple of day job problems (my problem child is at it again since I'm out of the office - I knew he'd try pulling something so I checked in... bad problem child! *SMACK!*)

And now I'm about to logoff, head back to the hotel, maybe watch another episode of Merlin (Damn it Hils - you had to start watching this and make me want to download it!  GAH!  I'm in love!) and then bed.  Tradeshow tomorrow and sort of Thursday and then off to to the wild blue highlands!  Where you might get a break from me as I probably won't have internet. (Please don't let me have internet - I need to disconnect).

Having a blast!
Thanks again Hils for taking the day off and hanging with me!  It was fun! :)
